What is Your Vision for Walnut Hill?

Walnut Hill Neighborhood Association (WHNA) seeks to bring area residents together to improve and maintain quality of life for all in the community by promoting Connection, Preservation, Beautification, and Engagement:

Connection

Host social events that promote a sense of community.

Think BBQs, porch parties, Halloween- and Easter-related events for the youth -- opportunities to meet neighbors and have fun!

Preservation

Support the architectural integrity of the neighborhood.

With the formation of Walnut Hill Historic District, over 525 homes are now listed on the federal and state historic district registers, yet many more remain. Look for updates soon about a first community meeting in support of bringing more homes into the fold.

Beautification

Increase neighborhood appeal by improving streetscapes.

Examples here include neighborhood clean-up events, programs that help homeowners maintain sidewalks and plant/replace trees, native plant education and perennial exchange events, and holiday decoration contests.

Engagement

Collaborate with city partners to improve overall community wellbeing.

Together with city partners, WHNA could, for example, host speakers on themes of interest, organize school-supply drives, and coordinate efforts in support of the animal shelter just outside Walnut Hill.
